Buzz Words

PTA – Your membership organization, made up of volunteer parents, teachers and administrators that work toward the end goal of the highest quality elementary school experience our children can have. PTA provides supplementary instruction, materials, enrichment, and fun.  Meetings are open to everyone and held monthly.  Child Care is provided.

School Site Council – Elected parent representatives, teachers and administrators meet to determine the direction and spending of the Site Improvement Budget (District Funds).  They work closely with PTA. Meetings are open.
PTA Council  The local governing body of our PTA. The Franklin PTA representative meets monthly with the Alameda PTA Council, which consists of PTA representatives from every public school in Alameda. The Alameda PTA Council is in the Peralta PTA District. The Peralta PTA District is a member of the California PTA. The California PTA belongs to the National PTA.  What all this means in California, is that our PTA is part of 1 million volunteers working to improve education for all children. Alameda Education Foundation (AEF) – A charitable foundation dedicated to supporting excellence in Alameda’s Public Schools. In existence for more than 20 years, AEF supports music, art, sports, technology and other enrichment programs that are vulnerable to cuts in school budgets. AEF also supports teachers by operating a teacher supply store and the Adopt-A-Classroom program to facilitate the transfer of donations from community members to teachers for classroom supplies and materials.
Morning Assembly – For the entire Franklin community—parents, teachers and students, held on the playground once a week and last about 10-15 minutes. A must attend if you want current and accurate information regarding all school activities.  Assemblies are held at 8:20 on Monday mornings. 
Wednesday Envelope/Franklin Flyer/Franklin PTA Update – Important information for parents either sent home with kids every Wednesday (for those WITHOUT access to email) or sent by email. If you receive hard copies of information in a regular Wednesday envelope, remember to sign and return the envelope.  Franklin school and PTA strive to be 100% paperless, so those with email addresses on file will receive regular communications by email.
