The Art Docent Program is a PTA-sponsored, parent-taught monthly art lesson offered to all grades during regular classroom hours. It is designed to allow children more opportunities to explore their artistic talents through educational art lessons and hands on art projects. Lessons are 1-1.5 hours and occur roughly once a month. Art Docents are trained at the beginning of the year and the program usually begins in October. The children exhibit their best art work at the end of the school year when volunteers transform Franklin into an Art Gallery for the evening.
Generally each class has 3-5 Docents who share the responsibilities and coordinate through a Lead Docent who is in charge of overall logistics for the class. You can sign up with your room parent or by contacting the school-wide Art Docent coordinators.
This is a wonderful program and one that our children and parent-volunteers love!
